Jul22493 9. Jul22493 Established in 2017 for the purposes of producing designs of unmatched quality in the field of precision lasercutting components, all with a quick turnaround and short lead times, Murray Engineering & Installation has faced nothing short of continuous expansion over the past seven years. Today, this business offers a number of design, folding, and fabrication services in addition to the above, and enjoys a client base inclusive of such high-profile clients as Cargotec Ireland, Hyrdoscand, Hyster Yale, Activ8/SSE Airtricity, and Old Carrick Mill Distillery, to name a few. We catch up with Company Director Gerard Murray for more. With more than 20 years of experience at his disposal, it would be accurate to say that Gerard Murray is a true master when it comes to manufacturing and developing innovative design solutions, the same can also be said of his team, who possess almost seven decades of expertise in this space between them. As a result of this uniform excellence, whether a customer is in search of complex and unique designs, high-volume production elements, or anything in between, Murray Engineering & Installation (MEI) is the right choice for all of one’s design, CNC machine, laser-cutting, forming, fabrication/welding, drilling/cutting, and finishing needs. Regardless of the reasons for a customer utilising MEI’s services, they will be afforded the business’ famed person-centric approach from the off. Gerard elaborates further on this, stating, “we work closely with our customers from the beginning of each project, to ensure that all assemblies are consistently successful at the prototyping stage, before moving into production.” This approach has helped to further cement the company’s standing in the region and has resulted in numerous positive client testimonials that frequently reference the quality, skilled, knowledgeable, and cost-effective nature of this award-winning business. All work is carried out to the highest of standards across the board, and with the company in possession of the likes of an ISO 9001 certification for its manufacturing, the entirety of its structural steelwork meeting the EN1090-1 standard, and every member of its workforce boasting a BS EN ISO 96061:2017 welding certification, this is more than a claim, it is a promise. On the back of such accreditations, Gerard explains, “our certification processes ensure that all fabrication is consistent and to the highest standard”, something that starts and ends with his team. As Gerard tells us, “with over 65 years’ experience, our internal processes, systems, and employees are our top priority.” Such distinction starts at the top and works its way down the company ladder, with Gerard working tirelessly to continue to foster a vibrant business culture that revolves around the elements of employee growth and learning, providing an array of incredible opportunities for employees to develop both personally and professionally. By expanding their skills in a company that truly cares for their wellbeing, whether this be through training, feeding back on how the business can improve, or taking on increased responsibilities, members of this staffing team are afforded the opportunity to the live the company’s core values of delivering excellence in innovation and providing highquality products/services on a daily basis. This is something set only to continue as this team look to the future, and commenting on MEI’s plans for the coming months, Gerard speaks with an unmistakable sense of enthusiasm as he tells us about the company’s new solar ground mount systems, expert technology that has been designed in partnership with Ireland’s leading solar installation firm and then custom built by MEI’s team of engineers. Exploring this further, Gerard himself explains, “MEI’s ground mount system is capable of supporting small- and large-scale solar arrays and solar farms and has been designed for fast, efficient installation.” With a series of ground screws also coming soon, the future of MEI’s solar space sure is bright. Of course, each of the services that have been mentioned here are equally fantastic, but our personal favourite, and the one that has earned MEI this award, is its suite of lasercutting solutions. MEI’s 3kW fibre laser was already impressive when it was only capable of cutting up to 20mm with a maximum sheet size of 3m x 1.5m, but since 2023, the business has been able to cut up to 100mm thick thanks to a new state-of-the-art 10m x 2.5m laser. For all of the above, and more, we cannot recommend Murray Engineering & Installation enough, and we invite our readers to get in touch with the business should they have a project in mind.
