38 EU BUSINESS NEWS / Irish Enterprise Awards 2022 Jan22555 Passionate about her work, Thereasa Arcari took the plunge more than a decade ago to realise her dreamand open up her own lash salon. Now, withmany qualifications under her belt, plus a range of her own products on the market, we find out more about where it all began. Irish entrepreneur, Thereasa Arcari, has been running her own salon for almost 13 years now and specialises in all types of last extensions and treatments. As an industry leader in lash training, Thereasa initially studied with Galligan’s Beauty college for 12 months and completed a Diploma in Teacher Training. She has since gone on to write all of her own manuals which are accredited with The Guild of Beauty Therapists. It all started, however, in 2007 Thereasa’s sister-in-law from New Jersey came home to Ireland for a wedding. “I noticed she had lashes on and I thought WOW!” enthuses Thereasa. “They were stunning. She had so much confidence and I wanted to give that to people too!” The overwhelming desire to give people the confidence they deserve with their lashes saw Thereasa fly to New York to complete her training in eyelash extensions. She subsequently practiced for 10 months and finally opened the doors of The Lash Boutique in June 2009. “I’m very proud of the business I have built over the last 13 years through hard work and a love of what I do!” exclaims Thereasa who has, over the last decade, invested heavily in upskilling which included lots of travelling to complete various lash related training courses. Completing her Diploma in Teacher Training in 2015 and opening up The Lash Boutique Academy in 2016 means that Thereasa now provides her own students with the opportunity to start up their own lash business and give confidence to others too! “At The Lash Boutique my students receive the highest standard of training which gives them the skills and confidence to start their journey into the world of Lash application,” she states. “I also have my own range of Lash Professional products from lash adhesive, tweezers, lash cleanser, and lash trays.” During the first lockdown, Thereasa decided to fulfil one of her long term dreams of launching her own range of Pro Magnetic Eyeliner and Lashes, aiming to target all ages. These lashes make the strip lashes not only easier to apply, but environmentally friendly too. “I was so excited to use the time to trial and test various styles of lashes. From corner lashes to more glamorous fuller lash, there are six different styles to choose from and something to suit everyone. So, besides no more glue this means no damage to your natural lashes and there’s no trimming,” she says. Today, Thereasa continues to progress her business and influence others, and attends many networking lunches to meet similarly amazing women in business. Social Media is also a must for networking and keeping up to date, and Thereasa took full advantage of this while in lockdown in order to stay connected to a network of likeminded professionals who offered support and encouragement. With a growing list of accolades and awards being bestowed on her, the latest which was Best Eyelash Stylist 2022 in the World Salon Awards, it’s clear to see why she clinched this impressive title as her passion and enthusiasm for her work is infectious. “Launching a career as a lash artist has given me a deeper sense of purpose and makes getting up in the morning easy. Making a difference in the lives of others is such a rewarding experience, I truly love what I do. My continued ethos is to give the best lashes, keep the standard of training high to my students and to be recognised for being the best within our industry.” Looking to the future, Thereasa is hoping to provide more people with the confidence and happiness they deserve.
