Following its well- deserved success in the Irish Enterprise Awards 2021, we spoke with company leader and champion digital marketer, Aidan Spence, to find out more. Since inception the firm have had to overcome several hurdles in response to the competition across the region. Aidan goes on to explain, however, that adopting a client-focused approach has enabled the firm to distance itself from the crowd. “To guide our clients through every step of the journey, we regularly run discovery sessions and apply a personal approach to ensure unique solutions are found for the business”. With the internal culture of the firm evolving around teamwork, it’s important staff members get to know each other as quickly as possible, as Aidan points out to us. “In 2016, myself and the team took three weeks off work to hike to Everest Basecamp. In what was an amazing teambuilding experience, it gave the team an opportunity to talk. Recently, our catch ups have run remotely following the outbreak of COVID-19, however moving forward we would like to return to the teambuilding events we were experiencing prior to the pandemic”. Despite the outbreak of COVID- 19, the firm have been extremely busy over the last 12 months as Aidan explains further. “With many of our customers closing their physical stores during the periods of lockdown, we saw a massive increase in the number of clients asking for eCommerce platforms. Clients recognising the need to trade online during these difficult and uncertain times has led to us generating dynamic and innovative solutions”. Finally, Aidan discusses the main benefits of the firm’s location before outlining some of its plans for 2021 and beyond. “Ireland has an amazing tech industry and brilliant broadband in a lot of remote locations. In addition, working in a very rural area has led to us picking up a lot of business through word of mouth. Currently, we are restructuring the entire company to offer new services and in due course we will rebranding to Spence Digital Agency later this year. In 2020 we had over 80 new clients and we hope to grow this by another 50 in the coming year. In addition to COVID-19, we expect Brexit to impact the number of businesses moving into the online side of things. Moving forward, our mission is to help over 100 SME businesses generate revenue and gain an online presence in the digital world by 2022.
