As a Chinese citizen with German permanent resident, I have positioned myself as the bridge between China and Germany/ EU. I have 15 years’ experience in the telecom industry, worked in Siemens Communications China and Huawei Germany as Regional Sales Director, with excellent contacts across both German and Chinese telecom carriers and vendors.” Romeo is clear to emphasise that he didn’t build Zhong-Munich into what it is today alone, and soon moves to discuss the role of the previous CEO of the company, and Co-Founder, Alfred Kutz. “He has over 30 years’ experience in the telecom industry with significant management positions in various German carriers and vendors. He is experienced in consulting and mentoring Chinese telecom companies to qualify the standards of German market. We are working together to approach new clients and identify the potential projects, and build relationships with clients. Ultimately, Zhong-Munich team is built up by senior Chinese and local German sales who work back to back and ensure the 100% communication with Chinese suppliers and German/EU clients.” Now at the helm, Romeo has created a natural continuation of the path that Alfred established in those early days of Zhong-Munich, as he moves on to explain in more detail. “Sometimes referred to as democratic leadership, participative leadership is my favourite leadership style that encourages leaders to listen to their employees and involve them in the decision-making process. Participative leadership helps to build trust with employees. Empowering them and encouraging them to share their ideas on essential matters, demonstrating their value to a team.” This collaboration and communication within the company acts as a potent testament to the quality of its international collaborative services. Now I have kept my promise to the German Chancellor that I would spare no effort to make contributions towards the friendship between Chinese and German people.” With the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic mostly behind us, Romeo hopes that the collaborative efforts between China and Germany will continue to grow and thrive. “The pandemic made the day-to-day aspects of our business far challenging than before. However, We overcame the difficulties and adopted more telco meetings with the customers such as Deutsche Bahn, and the suppliers such as SED Wireless from China. Now the pandemic has largely gone and the business exchange between China and Germany/EU will be back as usual. I expect to get to know new clients and develop more business opportunities.
